Indian cuisine is very diverse and is a result of India's diverse population. Within these recognizable similarities, there is an enormous variety of local styles.Udupi(Udipi), a style of South Indian vegetarian cuisine, has been very popular. The origins of this style is in kitchens of Krishna Matha of Udupi, Karnataka where Lord Krishna must be offered variety of foods(Naivedya) everyday. This has led to one of the most innovative and tastiest style of cuisine. The Udupi style of restaraunts and hotels have their presence all over the world.
Typically, North Indian meals consist of chapatis or rotis and rice as staples, eaten with a wide variety of side dishes like dals, curries, yogurt, chutney and achars.
